About my process… Each rug begins with a sketch Each concept is then hand drawn onto a piece of stretched 100% cotton Monks Cloth. Colour combinations are then made from a selection of locally sourced yarns made from wool, cotton and acrylic. I prefer to work with chunky and bulky yarns to achieve a defined texture. The monks cloth is tufted one colour at a time with a hand held tufting gun. My goal is to achieve a uniform loop pattern with clean lines, and ultimately, to create something that makes me laugh. Once the frame is fully tufted, the backs of the pieces are glued with a low VOC adhesive and backed with a wool or wool blend felt. Once the frame is finished, they are rolled, wrapped and shipped to their new homes. Finished pieces can be used on the floor, on benches or chairs, or hung as tapestries.
